baby swamps on a CA emissions split shot engine

Will single shot baby swamps run on a split shot engine with 6 pos chip reburn only? Or does the pcm itself need reburned?

Reason I ask is that I just finished a swap of a 97 split shot engine and ZF5 into my 96 CC SB that had an E4OD. I moved about everything over from the 97 including pcm. I'm not even getting close to firing. Guy at Swamps said it should start without the chip... But the pcm I'm using is for the stock split shots.

Chip will be back next week. Wondering if the chip would do it.

The other question, is should I put my old pcm back in that ran single shots? It was for an auto and now I have a manual. Does it really care?

Or any other things to think about?

If you told your tuner to burn the chip for split shots you should be fine. Other experts will come along.

if you gave the tuner the PCM code for the one you are currently using, and the information for the injectors you are installing, then they should be able to set it up appropriately.

I would think it would start without the chip installed. It may not run well, but at least start.

Update: I connected my original pcm and it started immediately. So the Cali pcm without a chip would not run the baby swamps me.

Another update: I discovered the underhood harnesses were quite a bit different from my original 96 auto truck and 97 donor. The 97 had CA emissions so that may add to the variation. The underhood harness had different or additional pins at the engine connection, firewall connection and transmission connection.

Swapping the underhood harness from the donor truck made the donor pcm work perfectly and everything else seems to work fine with no check engine light. The manual pcm seems to make it run better all around. I was getting a lopy idle at start up and a slight stumble when slowing for a stop sign when using the auto computer.
