Help Should I Fix It?

Details
1996 F-350 Power stroke Single cab, Dwr
35,000 miles $3000

Plow truck at local college, used with salt spreader.

The truck has been sitting, got it to fire up though and ran really nice. Has surface rust, most of frame was in great condition. Rust on cab corners and such. Has a PTO motor and lines.

4x4 was stuck on, OD light was blinking, needs one section of brake lines at least and needs two batteries. The list could go on but I really don't know enough.

I need a cheap truck for my farm and this guy is just trying to get rid of it. Should I take it from him?

Thank you very much!!!

Really even with that stuff going on? I understand I'll have to put some money in to it but still worth the trouble?

If you know how to work on 7.3's I would buy the truck asap. If you are going to rely on a shop to fix everything I would tell you to pass. If you do buy the truck this forum is full of useful information and everyone on here is very helpful. My husband and I bought our first 7.3 last fall and after one trip to a shop we decided to learn how to fix everything ourselves. With the help of this forum and the internet we have saved thousands! The truck you are looking at sounds like a good truck for your farm and would last you many years!

I paid 6k for mine and put in 750 to get it running well.

the engine only has 36k on it. that will run forever

the front axle, injectors, turbo, block barely broken in, rear end are worth more than 3k

Try to hassle him down a bit more, even at that price it's a great buy. And SC dually's are rare around my area, you only see EC and CC.

SC = supercab; this is an RC = regular cab. Much more common as duallies than supercabs. I've seen exactly one supercab dually "in the flesh". In any event, since it's a 4x4, it's either a conversion, or POSSIBLY a C&C. Not sure what impact that would have on whether to buy it; depends on what you want to do with it. Does it have a pickup bed on it now?

TBH, for it needing that much work, and being an E4OhDear, $3K is on the high side.
