Yeah the cab corner and the 18" section behind door was crunched by prior owner
I had to straighten the cab floor underneath using the jack. Then just cut all the mangled metal out
Luckily had a reg cab corner from my '95 left over. Modified that to fit the Ext Cab and then welded new sheetmetal to bridge the 18"
The tiger hair seems to be good stuff so far. Spreads on real nice once it tacks up a bit. Very forgiving to work with. And since I'm only using it to fill in gaps from welding, the panel is super strong.
did what I hope is the last welding today. Not more rot/cancer on the truck. Just some dents to smooth out before I repaint her
I swear I want to punch people sometimes. I don't understand what would possess people to repair like this. They didn't even prep the metal. Just slapped some sort of putty in there with the chicken wire/mesh. Then almost 1/2" of bondo and paint. No surprise the rust came back
I threw some POR-15 up under there once welding was done. Hopefully I did a good job and it'll be a few years before any hint of rust shows it's ugly face
Unfortunately photobucket decided they want $400 a year to host images
I also traded her for an Excursion 2 weeks ago. I did finish all the welding and 75% of bondo/dent repair. New guy has the finishing touches in his court
