Hollapm did inquire about having to grind the hitch and was informed that Solastic improved the design so that there is no longer a need to modify the hitch.

I searched the forum and only saw it mentioned once as a question but no one said they had actually used these.

Has anyone tried these? Thoughts?

I haven't looked into these at all but based on the structure in that video I wonder what the effect is on the towing capacity. My guess is that you wouldn't want to tow very heavy with it. The ride might be better but the capacity has to be affected.

I'm at work so I had to watch the video on mute. Maybe they answered my questions.

While watching that video I had a sense of deja vu. I think they shot the first driving part on the road I used to live off of in Houston years ago.

I ran them on my 2012 and they were great. I towed 18,000lbs with them with no issues. I will be running them on my 2017 as well. They greatly reduce road vibrations and jump in the rear.

Funny I just watched that video this morning and also searched it out on FTE forum. I did read the couple question posts with no responses. It is mentioned many more times on the forum if you get out of 2017 Super duty. Some info but not much for actual user experience. Strange part is that shop owner in the video claims he's installed over 400 of them..... you would think there would be more user experience here on FTE since there were so many installed in just 1 single shop.

I thought about trying them first before dropping $1500 on new leaf springs. However its all really speculation on my part as my truck has not even been delivered yet. lol

Interesting, sounds just like Torsion Axles on trailers.

The shop in the video is in Corpus Christi, TX so they probably started hearing about them from a sales rep and get a better deal on them due to local.

I could see this really help with small sharp edge bumps/potholes. Maybe matched with some Fox shocks, it would ride like a whole new truck.

I'll love to hear from someone who's got them on a 2017.

One difference between the 17's and the 11-16 gen in the video is that you have to grind down the hitch receiver on the 17's to make the shackles fit.

I had Sulastics on my 99 F350 and my 07 GMC 3500 and towed 15,000lb 5th wheel. I thought they made a big difference in the ride. I am currently changing out my shocks on by '17 F350 and will wait to see if the ride is "good enough" before I buy and install another set of Sulastics.

I would also like to know how they hold up to a load. I haul a gooseneck with up to 20,000(+) lbs. I would hate to have one fail at 50-60 mph with my tractor or backhoe on-board.

This was a suggested video when I logged onto my YouTube the other night, so I took it in w interest. The guy doing the video, does lots of them and also has a pretty good size 5th wheel camper. So maybe a follow-up video with him towing his 5er will be forthcoming.

Guys, I ran these on the previous gen trucks towing 18,000 lbs on numerous occasions at speeds up to 70mph with absolutely zero issues. The benefits are there and I will be running them on my 2017 in collaboration with a lift and 37's here soon. Like another member noted, you will have to trim/grind the edge of the tow package/hitch frame in order for them to clear.

I just read the comments on the You Tuber's channel and he says he will be doing a video on the Sulastic Springs under a load very soon. Seems several people are wondering how they react under load.

It looks like it won't have any effect on heavy towing. The movement (cushion) is all in the unloaded/empty range. After load, these do nothing as they are expanded all the way out and the normal leaf springs take full effect.

I would be concerned about the rubber separating from the steel under a heavy load when its either really cold or hot.
In a rubber torsion axle on the heavy duty models the tubes are square and that minimizes the chance of separation.
