Here we go...CA smog fail
Well my son's 1990 failed due to high HC @ 3 times allowable level, and CO% @ double allowable level.
I told my son I thought it was running lousy, but he proceeded to drive it from CA to Washington state and back. I told him prior to test to change air filters and he did not.
I started this thread to hopefully help someone else having the same issue.
Unfortunately I will be guessing where to start. Basics first, filters and spark, wires, timing tests. $50 additional every re-test at the smog station.
EDIT: I'm open to any suggestions too.

Step 1) Pulled codes 84 and 33 c? Both relating to EGR.
EDIT: During internet search I found an old post of mine with this same code combo. At that time I changed the EVP sensor. Identical code combo 2 years apart on the same vehicle.
