79 tail light wiring?

Can anyone show me their wiring for their tail lights?

My issue is my tail lights are bright when i have the head light switch pulled out like I have my brakes pushed in. My blinkers will not work either.

But my blinkers and brake lights work fine when I do not have the head lights on.

Sounds like a bad headlight switch?

Great read here. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ml#post1812190

And here. https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/...rd_Pickup.html

Some stuff I had on the computer.

Here's what the factory wiring diagram says for rear lights.
Blk/rd= backup lights
Black= side marker, tag lights (on styleside)
Brown=tail lights, tag light (on flareside)
green= RH stop and brake
Yellow/blk= LH stop and brake

Rear light wiring
BROWN: running light circuit
YELLOW with BLACK stripe: driver-side stop/turn
GREEN: passenger-side stop/turn
BLACK with RED stripe: backup lamps

73 & 79 headlight-marker lights use same color codes
Brown= side marker and parking lights
White-blue trace= turn signal
Red-black trace= Low beams
Green-black trace= Hi beams
Black=ground

Flat bed wiring…
Brown= Run Light
Green= Brake light- L
Yellow= Brake Light- R
Black= Reverse Light??

All this above info/diagrams is here all the time.

Thanks man!

I got it fixed.

The red wire on the bulb socket was connected to the turn signal wire while the white wire on the bulb socket was connected to the brown wire.

I am having another issue now.

The right blinker blinks real slow. There was a cut off green wire under the truck so I checked it and it was the turn signal wire BUT the turn signal wire was already hooked up....so I cut the green wire in half and connected the cut off green wire with the main green wire...but still the blinker blinks real slow.

I do notice that the bulb will get bright like I push the brake in unless i turn the socket some and it will dim back to normal.

I dont know if the socket is bad is why the blinker light doesny blink fast like the left blinker does or what...

Any opinion?

Have you replaced the turn signal flasher unit under the dash? Did someone (PO) hack in a trailer light wiring harness? Might be the problem?

Blinkers work fine before rewired other than when i had headlight switch on because of the wrong wiring. dont see trailer stuff.

the right rear is the only one blinking slow now.
