I have a 1994 F350, 5.8,C6 that has an inoperable volt meter (battery charging gauge). It stays pegged all the way to the left. All other lights and gauges work.
I pulled the volt gauge and hooked it up to a battery and the needle moved to the right. IIRC, I switched the wires, and the gauge went all the way to the left. My neighbor checked voltage at the battery and insisted that the alternator was charging the battery.
What should I check next? Is there a specific wire that I should check? Could there be any wires reversed causing the gauge to stay at the left?
It may be obvious that I'm not very skilled in electronics, but I'll do my best to trouble shoot and answer any questions that you may have for me.
Someone could have been in there before and somehow jacked with the wiring. The Red/White wire is the voltage feed from Fuse 17. The ground path is done via the Black/White wire to ground G200.
