Distributor Shaft

Was cleaning up and painting my engine and decided to pull my distributor. Anybody know why this would happen?

Shaft stuck in the distributor.

Better than the OP drive falling into the oil pan...
Is it stuck hard?

No I drove it off. The shaft is Okay but I'm worried about the distributor shaft hex. OBTW no clip to keep the shaft engaged in the oil pump??? I put one in

I'm not that familiar with Y-blocks; is (was) the clip below an opening in the block, like on SBF's, and should have kept the shaft down in the OP? I'd assume it's in the oil pan now... not likely a problem. It may come out with an oil change, maybe not.

The only concern I'd have with the OP shaft is if it's too long, and is bottoming in the hex drive, making it stick. Is it made specifically for a Y-block?

Yea it's a heavy duty ARP for the Ys.
The clip is suppose to be below the bottom distributor mounting hole to keep the shaft from pulling out of the OP.
