Greg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band died at age 69. Details not yet available. Another great guitarist gone!

 

Details: LOTS of booze, cocaine, and other drugs over the years. Hepatitus C 1999, liver transplant 2010, etc etc.

 

Sad news. Heaven done called another blues singer back home.

Can you imagine the memorial concert that will probably come from it though? Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Robert Cray, Keb No, Jimmy Harring, maybe Clapton..........

And I forgot about ole Richard Betts pickin on that red guitar

 

Not to mention numerous "Father of the Year" awards.

I like the music but how this guy made 69 is a miracle.

We all like to watch a good train wreck I suppose.

RIP Allman.

 

Favorite song by him was I'm No Angel. Also loved his small role as the drug dealer in 'Rush'.

 

Oh yeah, movie Almost Famous was based on the reporter's touring interview with Greg Allman. Great movie.
