aux input jack on the 2005 f150
#2
My 2005 F-150 Lariat didn't have a aux input. The aux button was for the optional entertainment system that mounted in the roof console. That being said, Crutchfield had a "box" that hooked into the RCA inputs on the back of the factory radio that converted it down to a 1/8" headphone input. Then I just ran the wire out under the dash and hooked up from there. Worked great.
The only 2005 trucks I saw with an actual 1/8" aux input were late 2005's and up. It was on top of the dash above the radio in the corner of the black pocket op top.

The jack is at the back of the deck and requires a converter/adapter to work with conventional external audio input sources. These used to be available aftermarket, but I don't know if they still are. PinMd is correct about it being designed to work with the optional overhead DVD. It's easier to just get a modern double DIN head unit. I put a Kenwood in my '05 that has USB, 3.5mm, and 2 RCA inputs, as well as bluetooth audio (and phone of course). It's a complete bolt/snap in job and plug & play. All you need is the correct mounting bracket and wiring adapter(s).
