This transmission came out of a running Ford Falcon (similar to Ranchero), believe it was 1960-1964 Model. It was connected to an in-line 6, I believe a 170 cid. Would like to offer it for sale but not quite sure how to describe it. I believe it may be a 2 speed Fordomatic. Any help?

Looks like a C4, which is a later trans. Pictures here:

It is a F/M/2 (One piece bell and main case).

Glad you looked further than I did. Is that a true 2 speed, or a 3 speed that starts in 2nd like some of the other Ford-o-matics?

It is a true 2/S as it was used on economy applications, full size and intermediates.

The 3/S FM had a cast iron case.

You guys sure are shaking the cob webs loose. Next I will start thinking of women again...

easy way to tell a 2 speed ford-o-matic from a C-4 or 3 speed select-o-shift/green dot trans:
ford-o-matic has cooling screens in the bellhousing and no trans cooler lines.
the 3 speed trans has no cooling screens and trans fluid lines going to a cooler in the radiator.

Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate your knowledge of Ford parts. Now if I can find a good home for it, or figure out how to mate it to a 226 Flathead.

C4 and 200 I-6 introduced in 1964, but weren't available in Falcons until 1965.

Only A/T available in 1960/64 Falcon 144/170 I-6's & 1963 1/2 & 1964 260 V8: Anemic Ford-O-Matic two speed. It's get up and go, got up and went.
