So, it's ok, you can admit it....you're just aching to spend $1200?
Get the Hydra, get some good tuning and drive it for a while before you travel down the injector trail.
This is what I was thinking too. Just wanted another person's take on it. Should I get the tuning from Hydra or have someone from here? Suggestions on what tunes? Won't tow often, 10mile commute, pull avg. size camper and/or pontoon a couple of times a year.
...for the simple fact that I can get a mechanical rotary switch
I think every tuner out there sells the TS 6 position rotary **** chip, so your options are wide open there, but my question is more about why you like the rotary **** over the digital switcher.
Just curious, but is it because of the less attention getting display the **** presents? Or is it just the look you prefer?

I guess it boils down to the less conspicuous aspect. After one person's failed attempt at "borrowing" the truck and one person's successful "borrowing" of the truck (only for a day...), my thinking was - if they make it past the alarm and its no-start feature, I'd rather not have a big bright "0" staring them in the face with the accompanying selector buttons screaming, "Try switching me!" At least with the mechanical switch, it's not so obvious.
I am warming up to the Hydra, though. Maybe, I'm just overthinking the whole thing. I'll be ordering one here within the next couple of days.

With the hydra you can put it in no start and remove the switch and stick it in the glovebox or even take the switch with you. Someone would have to remove the chip from the pcm or have a hydra switch to start the truck.
edit you can also put it in a lower setting if someone else is using the truck and remove the switch so they do not play.
Does anyone know if the tow tunes on the PHP Hydra have a decel feature built into them? They don't show a separate decel tune like the DP Tuner does. That is one feature I'd really like to have.
And on another note, it looks like Edge is getting into on-the-fly tunes. This is the first I've seen of these.

Just an FYI as far as theft prevention goes. You might want to look into the Cyclops anti theft "system". It replaces a relay under the hood and is controlled by a fob on your key chain. The fob and relay are a matched pair so so another fob/switch will not work. A thief would need to know the device is installed and have replacement parts on hand to defeat it. Otherwise towing is the only real option and way too time consuming for the average dirt bag.
that big "0" staring at them means nothing if they do not know how to bypass the no start. they can push buttons all day long and nothing will happen if they do not know the proper sequence.
i personally just pop the switcher out and put it in my pocket if i want to disable the truck. it only takes a second to do, and guarantees no one will be taking the truck unless they happen to have a DP tuner switcher with them.

DP is the only one that I know of that has DeCel, I know you can hotwire a Lockup switch Mod( but I'm not into chopping up my wires). and I believe the Hydra is SOTF.
There's a lot of folks that love the Hydra, But I don't need 5000 tunes, I don't race my truck, and my DP has been flawless for several years now, and I've done several injector changes and have never been charged for a rewrite of my tunes so...... Just wanted to speak for the other side.

As I understand it there is a bit more involved that just activating the EBV. The DP feature monitors back pressure and regulates the effect of the EBV.
