I just picked up my new lariat ultimate CC diesal with ult trailer tow camera system. I did not receive camera for trailer? Is it mailed later or hidden in truck somewhere? Will have to call dealer tomorrow.
It should have been given to you when you took delivery. Ford ships them to the dealership when the truck is being built. Likely it is still at the dealership in the parts department or under a salesperson's desk somewhere.
EDIT: This is incorrect. Next two posts answer the question.
I stressed that with the dealer and he insisted it was in package , what an idiot .... now I have to fork out how much for that thing?
Hey, don't stress too much, I purposely didn't order it to come with the truck as it was just and accessory shipped after the fact. I ordered it online and got it for a much better price than the $750, hell I got it and the stuff from Nichols to install it in the bed of my truck for under $750. I will update this post when I find my receipts to give exact details and who/where to order from for best price...
Whatever you do, don't go through your dealer for this as they have to charge you full price for it, at least every local dealer around me quoted me the $750 full price, including the dealer I was buying the truck through...
But don't order right away, create an account, put it in your shopping cart, then close the window. Within a few hours you will get an email offering you another 5% off your already lowest price for this kit...
I ended up order other stuff as well, but you see in this order that it's a good price, plus an additional 5% off, and shipping isn't bad considering it was going from RI all the way to the other side of the country in OR. You being in CO should be a little less for shipping...
You will notice that the shipping date was like a week later, that was only because they don't have the new trucks in their catalog system and needed to confirm the VIN, see below for the email exchange...
And Finally, here is the stuff I ordered from Nichols to install it in the bed of my truck rather than on the bumper.
So with the scuff plates and shipping from both retailers my orders came to $790.77, so if I just deduct the scuff plates, and not worry about the shipping different or discount different, that brings the whole shebang, including the nichols stuff that you may not want, to just over $710.
Why pay more to get it with the truck then still have to pay for the stuff from Nichols to add it to the bed?
I stressed that with the dealer and he insisted it was in package , what an idiot .... now I have to fork out how much for that thing?
If you only wanted the Trailer Camera and not the TPMS it would have been $376. I ordered it on my XLT. I installed it on my trailer and the dealer just changes the plug and connects the harness on the truck.
I'm not sure what camera you guys are talking about but I ordered the customer installed trailer camera that came with everything I need to install it for $375. I haven't installed it yet but the kit seems to be pretty complete. They even included a bag of tie wraps. I also did NOT get the Trailer TPMS, on purpose.
Correct, if you don't want the TPMS you should still go through Tasca, again best price out there for it, $291. However, those that got just the camera kit said it came with shorter cables than the kit with the TPMS, so keep that in mind...
So "the ultimate trailer tow camera package" ended coming with the camera, thank goodness ... The dealer found it in parts and said it ships seperalty.
