Headliner

Someone recently posted pictures with a write up on a headliner project they did, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find it. Anyone know who this was?

1971 F250 Headliner

I installed the ABS headliner from LMC Truck. Comes in dark grey so I used their paint to color match my door panels. It fits nicely but it is a major pain in the *** as a one man job working overhead. To install it, I loosely secured the trim at the rear of the cab, to let the trim hold up the rear edge while I worked to secure the front edge trim pieces. Could've waited for a friend to help but didnt feel like waiting. Took about 2 hours to paint and install. Happy with the results. Saved some of the paint for touch ups as I did put in a few minor scratches while trying to install it. First time I have posted so Ill try to add photos.

These headliners our a royal pain in the azz anyway as a one person job.

Working over head anyway is not easy.

Ps you should have added some insulation to help keep the cab a little cooler.
Plus it helps cut the sound down. May be some see it as over kill but after living in the desert for 12 yrs ya never forget it those 112-120* temp days.
And have AC in your truck is a wonderful addition to aid in keeping ya a little comfy when it's hotter weather then you like.

Orich

Glued 1/4" bubble fold to the back side of the headliner also.

After having done two of them, I can offer a piece of advice. Match the center screw hole up from your old one to the new one. Get a 4 foot long piece of thin wood or similar material to act as a long "washer" to hold up the headliner as you position it and install the perimeter trim pieces. I used the center screw and 4 foot long slat to initially hold things in place and then was able to complete it effortlessly. I did this second one in about half an hour with minimal cussing.

I did mine with some thin(3/16 or 1/4) Fiber board from lowes it was on the wood isle but below the wood horizontal on a shelf . I didn't see it and had to ask an employee .
worked great as it was flexible enough to get a little bend like original headliner

Looks good, thanks for the tips. If I ever add AC, I'll insulate.

Thanks to all for the installation tips. The LMC headliner comes with a double sided adhesive foam strip that can be used down the center brace when installing. I chose not to because I wanted to be able to slide and position the headliner while securing the trim pieces.

swing by Best buy or sears and dumpster dive for a large piece of cardboard . use that to make a on the big side template , then slowly cut it down till it fits .
Boom now trace that to the fiberboard .
I am sure someone has rough dimensions for you to help out too .

Thanks Mike. I didn't even think about that! I'll remember that for in the future.
