53-56 Long box Running Boards

I got a great deal on some boards in excellent shape but when I went to pick them up they turned out to be long box boards. I got them anyway as they were the right price.

My short box boards are rusty in the front half. Before I cut the fronts off the long box boards and graft them to the back half of my old short box ones I thought I would ask if they should be saved? I have not seem many long box pairs in good shape.

Thanks,

Kevin

I would hope some 53-56 member would step forward needing those long boards. They've got to be as hard to find as long boards for my era trucks. Yours are being repop'd, original long boards are not. And if yours are the really long 9 foot SRW F-350 boards it'd be a crime to cut them. Just my opinion. Stu

Kevin;
Don't cut them, I can use them on my 9' bed for my C600 build. There is a vendor down the road from me that is reproducing the regular boards(Qualityparts4U) and advertises regularly on ebay.
Regards, Mark.

I haven't seen many long box boards around and i know the short box ones are being reproduced. I figured they should be saved as they in pretty nice shape.

I am in Vancouver B.C. though, so with our crappy exchange rate a new set of re-pop boards add up quick and used ones with no rust aren't easily found nearby.

Thanks for the replies.

I thought I would bump this thread again to see if anyone is interested in trading my long box boards for short ones. I have been busy with other projects on my truck but am getting closer to using them to fix mine.

Unfortunately the shipping cost may be high from where i am but I would really hate to cut them up. I had them advertised locally but no takers.

I sure hope someone steps up. I agree, I would hate to see them cut up! Do they look like the picture below. This is off of my Express Bed (SRW 9' bed) from my 55' F350 Truck. Like what Stu was talking about. Did you ever figure out if they were Long Bed or Express Bed? My signature at the bottom shows them mounted on the Truck.

I know there's a few guys in the North Seattle or Bellingham/Blane area that, if they're looking, perhaps will be able to meet with you near the border for a trade to save on the shipping and exchange issues.

Those long boards are in awesome shape. It would be a shame to cut them up.
