02 Excursion Revival
I have recently been passed down a 2002 Ford Excursion XLT. The engine blew 4 years back due to the oil level and has sat ever since. I need help getting this gal running and looking for any advice on where to start!
She's covered in pollen so I have her a quick scrub. Lots of these photos are out of order/ mid scrub
I've heard rust is the equivalent of car cancer. Is this major red flag?

A new motor would be advisble. Oil starvation will kill the cam journels in both heads first....no bearings. So both heads are probably going to take more to repair than they are worth.
Rods are not very good when new let alone if they got hot.
List goes on and on.
Find a good used motor for under $1500, as yours is a 2WD, and it's value is limited. Unless you just want to put $5k into a $4000 vehicle when your done.

Good looking XLT - dark green I think. Looks to be in decent shape except for the paint loss on top. Agree, get the V10 running again, then you can attack the paint, and various maintenance items. How many miles? Are you able to work on the V10 or sending it out? Check out the V10 forum.
