I was having trouble shifting our 1979 F100 3 speed on the column into first and reverse, so after some diagnosis I ordered a number of replacement parts from Dennis Carpenter, including C5TZ-7D363-B and C9TZ-7336-A. I don't know the exact name of these components, but they seem to be plastic spacers which separate the shift lever arms in the steering column.
My question is: what is the procedure to replace these two parts? I've read countless forums on how these can be culprits to difficult shifting for trucks equipped with three speeds, but none seem to tell me how to remove and replace them. Please help.
Thanks,
Scott
