Okay, I finally tracked down some exhaust manilofds off an EFI straight six, and about the first three feet of pipe that bolts up to them. Now I just have to bolt them on. But before I jump into and get myself in a jam, any of you guys ever had problems with this change out? What about clearance issues? I have a 78 f100 they are going on. What about bolts breaking and stuff like that? Should I get new manifold bolts for it? And what do I do about the egr? Just a few questions. Any help would be great. Thanks.
I haven't done this conversion myself (although I am planning on it), but I have heard that you will have to take your new manifolds to the grinding wheel and remove a little material to get them to clear your stock intake manifold. I don't know where you need to remove material from. I've just been told to try and put them on and you will see where it needs it.
You can compare these two pictures to see what I had to cut on my EFI manifolds to bolt them up with the factory carb intake manifold.....
This is on the rear manifold, and the only cuts required were to get rid of a nubbin on the #4 exhaust runner, and getting rid of an unnecessary mounting hole, again on the number 4 cylinder.
