Correct rear view mirror for '77 F150

I've got two rear view mirrors. Of course each truck I have the mirrors where not mounted and it's been a while so I don't remember which one came out of which. Would anyone know which one is correct or not at all? Or would anyone have a picture of the correct style mirror for a '77 F150 that they could share?

The mirror on the left is about 9" long and is marked Donnelly on the back and my guess this is that this is some sort of aftermarket replacement.

The mirror on the right is about 12" long. No markings at all on it. I pretty sure this was laying loose in a '77 F350 that I stripped for parts some time back.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Shortbox4x4

The one on the right - especially if it has a bunch of molded in strips on the back, near the day/night lever.
That's what was laying on the floor of my '77 F150, but it was cracked, so I got an identical one out of a '72 LTD at the junkyard.

The one on the right looks like my 74's mirror. Except that one is clear. Mind is all cloudy and not usable.

I have a 1979 F250 with a similar question; there looks like there should be a bracket to mount a rear view mirror between the sun visors. The windshield I replaced had the mirror mounted on the glass but I don't think that was OEM. Any idea where I can get the missing bracket?

^ALL inside mirrors were mounted on the windshields of 1968 and later F100/350's and a gazillion other FoMoCo vehicles as well.^

Two different day/nite inside mirrors were available for 1973/79 F100/350. Both are EZ to find in junkyards, as they were used in myriad 1970 and later cars..

These mirrors are a one piece assembly, as the bracket and mounting plate (that is glued to the w/shield) are made as part of it.

E5AZ-17700-A (replaced D0AZ-17700-A) .. Day/Nite Mirror - 12" long x 2 1/2" wide.

Look in junkyards for 1970/82 LTD; 1970/2010 Marquis/Grand Marquis; 1983/2011 Crown Victoria. Same puppy used in all.

LTD name changed to Crown Victoria in 1983.
---------------------------------------------------
E5AZ-17700-B (replaced D0DZ-17700-A) .. Day/Nite Mirror - 10" long x 2 29/64" wide.

Same: 1970/77 Maverick/Comet; 1970/73 Mustang/Cougar; 1974/78 Mustang II; 1983/86 LTD/Marquis (Fox bodied mid sized) and etc etc etc.

What are you using to stick the mirror back onto the windshield? Mine fell off, a product I used that was supposedly highly reviewed held it on for a couple of days and fell off.
Pretty sure I prepped it correctly.

You can buy the mirror glue at any Ford dealer, but all the auto glass shops also sell it.

It takes several hours for the glue to dry, but the problem is, with the mirror/bracket and mounting plate as a one piece assembly, you may have to tape the mirror in place.

1962 was first year that cars came with a mirror that glued on, but back then, the mounting plate was separate w/a ball on it, the mirror bracket was two pieces.

The back side of the mirror had a ball on it for the brackets to mount to.

The bracket was glued on, then after the glue dried, the two brackets were placed on the ball of the mirror and the mounting plate, then the screws of the bracket were tightened, retaining the mirror in place.

But, these mirrors were also problematic. The mounting plate fell off, taking the mirror and brackets along with it.

The screws that retained the two halves of the brackets together began to loosen, the mirror began to sag like an old sway backed nag.

The bracket between the sun visors is FOR the sun visors to clip into. X2 on the mirror mount, mounts on the glass.

Comes in certain standard colors, chrome and paintable.

Here is what I have had good luck with as far a glue. https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/p...?q=mirroe+glue

I tried all the different adhesives sold at Napa, AutoZone and O'Reilly, and I even tried Krazy-Glue.

They all failed either immediately, or after several days.

I went to a local glass shop, and had them re-attach the button.. They used a two-stage spray adhesive (I presume the second stage was a "fixer"), and no more problems. $10

2x.... I kept finding the mirror laying on the dash.

But my solution was to fabricate a contoured bracket to install behind the sun visor bracket with a drop arm. Then I welded the button to the arm. Adhesives no more!

The OE mirror was clouded too so I pirated one from a Chevy truck for $2. I know, I know... blasphemy!

Many thanks for this info; attached is a picture where there are three phillips screws forming a triangle above the visor bracket--just wondering if that could have been used to attach a rear view mirror; not sure if it even had anything to do with an OEM feature.

Mirror glued to the windshield.

The three screws probably had something to do with a device mounted on the roof, a siren perhaps.

Maybe a 1957-1966 rear view mirror was mounted there?

Truck Parts and Truck Accessories

Pic is a 53-56 mirror.

Maybe a old school spring loaded cowboy hat holder was mounted there?
