Question(s) on the Cody Test

I would like to perform the Cody test and am thinking of doing it through the ICP holes in the heads (I believe that the hole exists in both heads). What I would like to do is adapt a quick connect air hose fitting to the ICP hole to facilitate an oil bath free, high pressure test. This could be done several ways, i. e. grease gun or hydraulic hose into the head, etc. I have not removed the springs and plungers from the head of the HPOP. While I believe that this should be easy enough to do I would like to hear if there are any reasons it can't or other things to consider in the process. Seeing as the system handles 2500 PSI+ the 100 PSI put out by the air compressor should not be an issue. Then I could connect the set up, open the ball valve on my compressor, listen, close the ball valve and crack a fitting to release pressure.

You will have to find some way to isolate the high pressure oil pump though. Otherwise you will begin to hear air escaping through the IPR. I like to take the lines off of the pump and use those to pressurize the system.

OK, so maybe I could take the HPOP fitting and see if I can get it sized to take the air coupler. Does that fitting have a size designation?

OK, I got the ticket. I went to my local hydraulics store and they hooked me up with this fitting. I don't know what the size is in the head but it's an ORB and it converts it to my air compressor size, I'm not even sure what that is. Anyway here's a picture of it and it will screw right into the head through any of the plugs along the top. If I need to isolate the HPOP I'll remove the hose fitting and put this in its place for the test.

Wanna say #5orb, but your on to something. I think b you have to remove the hpop lines so I don't need it the ipr like ckeatus mentioned, but with the 2 fittings, just use some 300psi fuel line from same place and make your own hpx crossover to perform the test

Correct, HPX must be removed and the fitting is a #6 ORB.
