Ok bare with me. Normally i can wire up trailer plugs like nobodys business but for some reason this one is confusing me.
My trailer plug was working 100% the other day. I installed a gooseneck hitch and needed to wire up the plug in the bed of the truck. I got everything hooked up and everything but the trailer brakes worked. I figured i messed something up so i started poking around.
I set my multi-meter to continuity to see if i crossed a wire and this is where things get weird. I have continuity between my left and right turn signals, between my turn signals and my 12v switched power that normally charges the battery on the trailer, and continuity from my right turn to another wire. I have no idea what could be causing this.
My blinkers work fine.
i have no idea how all of these wires could be connected anywhere. I even unplugged the trailer brake controller and same problem remains.
if everything but trailer brakes are working focus on that only.
test continuity from hitch plug to in bed plug, both power wire to the brakes and the ground wire should be 0.0 ohms. each (tested separately)
if not 0.0 ohms (or what ever your dmm reads from probe to probe)there is a wiring problem
also hook trailer to hitch plug and see if everything works. could be you pulled on the wire bundle when un plugging and pulled the trailer brake wire loose inside the trailer plug
