Ok, I'm new to the site but not new to fords. I've got an early 80's bronco and a 1999 ford Super duty. My bronco is no longer drivable so I'm gonna remove the engine and put it in something else, another bronco of course. I rebuilt it several years ago with about 10:1 compression but have never had to deal with emissions. Well I'm transferring to New Mexico and have to deal with it now. I found 1994 bronco with the same 5.8 liter engine. If I swap my engine in and use all the existing EFI stuff, will it pass emissions? I've got aftermarket heads, cam, etc and and higher compression and have to use 93 octane fuel. I don't want to do all this work and not pass emissions!! Thanks for any help!!! I like the newer bronco option to get overdrive and they are easier to find.

What are the cam specs and how much HP do you estimate the motor makes? Stock 19lb injectors can only feed about 275hp and a cam with any more than about 210deg duration at 0.050" lift and 112LSA or less won't idle smooth enough to pass emissions.
I believe duration is 270, lift at.050 and the machine shop estimated around 400 HP. It's never been on a dyno though. It sounds like I may have to go with something older and exempt from emissions.. Thanks. Hard to an 80-82 that's got a decent body, good title, etc.
New Mexico only goes back 35 yrs on the emissions. finally get to drive my 1980 f350 again. if the cat or cats are in good shape that will help you pass. if its running right it will probably pass.
