'83 E150 micro computer issue

Hello ford truck forum members, this is my first post! I've owned a 1983 e-150 for several years now and have been working to get it to a place where I can depend on it for a second vehicle when needed. I have put a good amount of money into it so far and have primarily used it as a camping/ rec vehicle- it has a bed and cupboard/ sink in the back. Took it in to smog ( Unfortunately I live in california) and it failed. My mechanic- who I have been dealing with for years and I trust, says it is the micro computer control unit- fuel air mix? Ford part number e3tf-12a651-c2a
It's a small non- descript box on the firewall. Problem is- we cannot find a replacement anywhere (tried online, ebay, junk yards, etc) and he called several companies that remanufacture but they will not repair this year? I guess 1983 was a transition for the econline between carbs and fuel injection and therefor an oddball year. Too bad because I love this van- it has the straight six under the hood. The real kick in the butt is that if I lived in pretty much any other state I would just be able to work around this problem but the smog police here would fail me on visual inspection.
Any suggestions? Does anyone know a company that will rebuild this control unit or am I dead in the water and I should just sell it out of state? ANY suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance- Robert

Ford ID engineering number marked on the part: E3TF-12A651-C2A

You're looking for the ID engineering number* .. not the part number...which is:
E3TZ-12A651-C .. Engine Air Fuel Ratio Control Assy / Marked: E3TF-12A651-C2A (Motorcraft DY-380) / Obsolete

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 1 = 800-543-4959.

HIGH BUCK! BOB ALLEN FORD in Overland Park KS has 1 = 913-381-2999.

No other Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

*No Ford part numbers marked on parts after 1956, just casting or ID engineering numbers, when applicable.
