Loose Steering Wheel

Hi All,

I have an 07 NAV L; the steering wheel feel loose, or that the shaft is missing a bearing? It's not the tires; as this will rattle at a standstill or while driving. If you put both hands on the wheel, it will rock (pull one end of the steering wheel toward you and push the other side away).

Has anyone else had this sensation? I bought it used with about 20k miles on it about 5 years ago...always had this issue but wife wants me to address it.

All you can do is tear into it to see where the play is. There is no common issue for excessive play in the steering wheel.

I have the same issue here.

The play is up and down (not left to right) et comes clearly from the steering column. It's like the tilt system on the steering column loosened up. Is there a bearing in there?

Yes, there is a bearing at the steering wheel.

After thinking about though, I think it should have also a left-right play if it was the bearing... not sure.

You can guess all day long, but the only way to know where the play is coming from is to dig into it.
