I have a 1990 f-150, 4.9lt the problem is I thought the alternator had gone bad so I took it up to the parts shop and pulled pulled it off and tested it, alt, reg and diode all passed but with it on the truck it will not charge right or charge at all, and while I am thinking about where is the relay for the intermittent wipers? I can hear just can't find it......
john,
you THINK the alternator has a problem? may i ask why? weak or dead battery, dim lights etc.?
if so maybe your battery has a bad cell in it and battery will not accept a charge properly.
#2 if the alternator worked well in the shop, then i would suspect the wiring to your alternator in the truck-
12V from ignition switch to ALT,
check the larger wire on the ALT marked Bat for continuity /fusible link,
GROUNDS
Im assuming you have hunted down the wiper relay maybe because of a short?
