My camper, loaded, adds 4000 lb to the rear axle. With upper and lower Torklifts, I have sag down to roughly 2 1/2". It was 4" before adding the TL's. SRW CCLB Gas 4x4.
Just wanted to share my experiences at this early stage of a 2017 F350 DRW owner. Sold my 2007 F450 which had a stupid hard suspension but as intended considering F450 DRW. F350 is VERY soft compared but in a VERY good way as I would rather resolve issues with a soft suspension vs hard one. I actually removed a total of 4 leaf springs from my F450 to get it to ride reasonable, even with 15k 5th wheel family trips.
So the 2017 F350 DRE is GREAT (considering it is a Truck) when unloaded but I also knew this would result in a decent sag wheb loaded even 50% to GVWR. So I added 7500XL Air Lift bags and love it. Best of both worlds. IMO, the only way to get a decent soft suspension when not towing but a good towing suspension = AIR BAGS. People who do not tow heavier loads (15k+) should not consider air bags. Waste of money IMO. Better solutions that are cheaper and much easier installs.
I keep mine at 15 psi when not towing. And 40 psi at 15k 5th wheel. I bump it to 75 psi when towing 25K+ gooseneck loads.
I think Ford finally figured out the 6.7L and this truck. Motor redesigns make it bulletproof from the factory (as long as you maintain it and aren't running idiot tunes) WITH the emissions. And the all aluminum body is impressive. I have a SXT and love that most the truck is pre-wired for all my desired add-ons.
