What are the disadvantages of running an aluminized exhaust. I was looking at the Summit Aluminized 4" exhaust, unbeatable price at 299$. Any thoughts?
I think the only difference is that the stainless is more durable over time in terms of corrosion. $299 is pretty cheap, whats the catch? From the down pipe back rather than from the turbo back?
If you live in an area where they salt the roads heavily, you'd eventually see the advantage of stainless over aluminized. For the rest of us, aluminized is much better because it's cheaper, and is easier to work with.
Aluminized can stand up to the temps we're subjecting it to, so that isn't a concern.
I am considering putting this exhaust on my truck also. The exhaust system is turbo to tailpipe. Has anyone put this exhaust system on their truck? It does sound pretty cheap compared to every other exhaust I've seen.
Heatstroked, It says the kit includes all neccary hardware for installation included. Your right though it doesn't show anything in the pictures. Guess I'll call and find out whats the deal. If you do purchase the system let us know how it works out.
I have owned Merceedes diesels for many many years...... I have yet to replace any exhaust component. The diesel residue which is oil also coats the inside of the exhaust and compared to the gas equivalent no exhaust replacement have been needed. Granted I live in Houston so road salt is not an issue. Heat and Humidity is the culprit here.
