Hitch Receiver - Newb Question

Sorry this is a bit embarrassing of a question. But this is my first super duty and i know there is a lot to consider.

But is everyone using for a hitch receiver? I tow both ball sizes 1 7/8 and 2 5/16. On my F150 I just had a basic straight receiver with the 3 sizes you just turn for each one. This truck is higher though so should I just get receivers and a 4" drop or something?

I also don't some cheap **** given the towing capacity I have.

Thanks

I never liked the universal type. I have two I carry. My pintal that is used with most of our equipment trailers and a 2" that is specific to a particular trailer. This way I never worry about height adjustment or weight.

Note that you (likely) have a larger receiver now. My last truck had 2.5" with a sleeve for fit down, this one has 3" with TWO sleeves to fit down.

If you don't want to mess with the sleeve reducers, Weigh Safe has one one, B&W has one on the way.

Most of us opted for the Weigh Safe. Here's a thread about them and the FTE discount we get on them. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ght=weigh+safe

Like most I have 4 different hitch bars purchased over time and seams like I had the wrong size ball needed on the wrong drop. I went with a Andersen Rapid Hitch 10' drop with a 2" and 2 5/16" ball.
Should have went this way a long Time ago.

do just the 350s have the 3" or do they all have the 3" receiver? My 250 6.2 hasn't showed up yet but I don't want to mess with any adapters

SRW 6.7 350 long bed = 3"
SRW 6.7 350 short bed = 2.5"
Gasser SRW 350's = 2.5"

HD 250's any bed length = 3"
All other 250's = 2.5"

All DRW's = 3"

You're 250 will have a 2.5"...

Went with the Weigh safe 8" drop and 2" & 2 6/16 kt. Also went ahead and got the 1 7/8 so I will always be prepared. Nothing worse than needing to tow something and not being able to tow it.

Mine is 2.5" measured it to be certain.

I am actually very disappointed with the sleeve adapter/reducer. It had tons of play in it. I bought a different one and it is better but in the end I am going to search around for a 2.5" shank for my WDH for my Toy Hauler.

Travis, did you get our discount from the thread I linked? The Weigh Safe is a sweet hitch. I got the 1 7/8" ball too as well as the lock plate dust cover...

Where can I find information on B&Ws release of a 3 inch shank hitch ?

I have an early 2017 F-250 single wheel so I have the 3" receiver. I went with the Weight Safe with the 2" and the 2 5/16" *****. I don't know if I will ever use a 1 7/8" ball but I will buy one for just in case.

Mark, the 250's are unchanged from early to late builds. The HD 250's get the 3" and the rest get the 2.5". You must have an HD 250.

If you wanted less to keep up with it seems like the logical choice would be to have a receiver with 2 different size ***** on it. I've been lucky enough to have everything I tow to have a 2" ball.
