Gooseneck trouble

Hi All, Love the forum. Just replaced my 2008 F450 with a sweet 2017 F450. Got the Goose/5th prep package. Got the Gooseneck kit. Love the ball features. But put the chain 'bar' in and now it is jammed. Cannot remove, cannot rotate.... Any recommendations out there?

I don't have mine yet, but I assumed you just pull the pin to separate the front and back halves then they rotate in and out of the pucks.

They should go back to front (cab) when installed, so I would think if you were 90* from that it should pull right out, from the pic it looks like you need to rotate it towards tailgate a little more, if it stuck give it a pop with a block of wood or rubber mallet (unless you don't mind premature rusting, then just use a hammer).

*** EDIT *** I assume when I said more to the tailgate that this pic was taken looking into the tailgate, so more towards the camera in this pic would have been clearer.

The pin for the puck in place is vertical. Then rotate the device 90 degrees (counter clockwise) for this position, lift the handle which rotates the next pin to vertical, rotate the handle back to the neutral position and the pin in the puck is now rotated to horizontal(locked). Rotating the device rotated the lower puck pin to horizontal (locked).

My dilemma, the puck is locked up as in jammed....pressing the other in into the bed of the truck.

Tried the rubber mallet, no help. Trying to avoid tearing up the bed.

I'm not fully following what you are trying to get across with vertical or horizontal pin. That I am referring to is the safety catch pin between the front and rear halves of the bar.

My understanding of how this works, and sorry I don't have mine in front of me yet, but there are a total of 8 parts to this kit. 2 ***** (2 5/8" and 3"), 2 front bars (where the chain connects, 2 rear bar supports (that attache the rear pucks and support the back of the front bars) and 2 Pins (that lock the front bars to the rear support).

The front bars and rear support should each have locking tangs under them 90* from the direction of how the 2 section alight to each other.

My understanding of the install process you put the Rear in (without the front attached) 90* out, then rotate it to point at the front puck, then lift the pivoting top. Do the opposite for the bar mount, and when they are facing each other drop the pivotd head over the front bar, then put the safety catch pin in.

See the pic for the pin I am referring to:

OK, I am mistaken, the front and rear don't come apart like I assumed. Soo sorry for the confusion... When I looked at it I assumed they were separate, but don't have my truck yet to try an install them, so much for assuming... Now your comment above makes much more sense, lol...

I was told by my dealer that with these bars, you have to "tilt" them to get them in place. I assume that would be necessary to get them out also. Seeing this makes me not even want to attempt it and just use the Curt hooks from Amazon instead of the bar.

The welds on the bars are a bit sloppy, one of mine pivots and drops in fine while the other needs a bit of "persuasion"
