New Excursion has a tuner?
2001 V10 4x4 XLT, 203,000 miles.
Got my 3rd excursion a couple months back with a bad motor. Holes in block.
Finally got new motor in 2000 V10 out of another excursion with 119,000 miles on motor.
Took it for its maiden voyage yesterday and WOW, it's seems to be much more responsive then my other stock 2000 excursion. My stock X will shift at about 2000 rpm while driving easy. This one shifts at 2500 to 2800 rpm driving normally. Very "peppy" and shifts smoothly.
Is there a way to tell if the 2001 X has been tuned?
I have a SCT tuner but it's mated to my supercharged excursion. Not sure I can use it to log the 01 X.
What should I look for to determine if it's chipped or tuned?
Previous owner had to return to Mexico, so I have no idea how to get in touch.

I have 3 excursions.
2 each 2000 v10 4x4
1 has a supercharger on it with OEM 4.30 gears limited slip.
1 is bone stock with 3.73 gears (this is comparrison vehicle)
1 each 2001 XLT V10 4x4 with 3.73 gears....limited slip.
Seems like it has a tune on it. I'm worried I should have put higher octane gas in it. Currently 85 octane. Unless there was a transmission shift strategy change between 2000 and 2001.

The tuner should work on everything up to maybe even 2010+ cars for reading OBD-II stuff like engine pids.
I'm not sure off the top of my head how you'd figure out if it had a tune.

Well, I'm no expert with the Ford PCM. Don't know which PIDS to select to determine if a tune is present.
I guess at this point the easiest way to check is to swap my 2001 PCM into my 2000 and see what happens.
So, is there a seperate computer that controls the transmission, as I will need to swap it too?
