Sandblaster upgrades.

Sandblaster upgrades.
I added a couple of improvements to my Harbor Freight sandblaster that I think others may find helpful. First the glass is a pain to change out or remove for cleaning because there are nuts on the inside and it's tough to reach them and turn a screwdriver on the outside. My solution was to install rubber "wellnuts" in the holes. I had to drill the #8 screw holes out to 5/16" but that was no problem. Now just a screw gun from the outside is all you need to have the glass off in 1 minute.
The second is the pitiful fluorescent bulb they come with. Mine lasted 1week and the second one lasted another week. I replaced it with a 150 watt outside floodlight fixture and put a switch box on the outside. This turned it into a blinding firestorm of light. At my age I need all the light I can get.

Yes, info on changing the viewing window was helpful; mine is the double door variety cabinet which makes it slightly easier to reach the screw; although, still dropped a few screw and had to fish them out of the hopper? As you mentioned, went with the magnetic base flood lamp, and yes what an improvement!!
Owned a pressure plaster before the cabinet, routed the pressure hose thru the front of the cabinet; Oh Yea!!
If have not already done so; found the cost of shipping blasting material could get expensive. Went on a cyber search for sand blasting equipment and supplies in my area and came across an industrial supplier relatively close, very helpful and carried just about every type of blasting material at a very reasonable price, 50# bags of alum. oxide, glass bead, etc. for less than half the cost for 25# container online. Anyhow, food for thought.
Again, thanks for the info regarding replacing the window, intend using the info and make the upgrade soon!
