Now I see it goes between the large interlock pins... Hard to believe it could pop out with the rail on, but I'm pretty confident the highlighted part of this image is exactly that pin.
I broke my first cover because I thought the shift forks were in the right spot. I also thought the cover was fully seated when I started to tighten the bolts. I was also really tired and as I was tightening the bolts, the cover literally split in half! Two days searching junkyards to find one…
Oof I know that feeling to having something break right at the end of the job. I’ll be sure to check that everything is lined up right before I bolt it back together!
