Trailers brakes not engaging

Just picked up a 2017 3.5 Ecoboost f-150. Love the truck but went to hook my boat up for the first time and it recognizes the trailer but no brakes. I installed electric over hydraulic on my trailer so it should engage. On my 2014 f150 it came with an extra fuse that had to be in stalled this new on hax max towing so I figured maybe it is installed already, but not understanding what else I might have to do. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My 2015 recognized the electric brakes on both trailers I've pulled without me having to do anything. Perhaps there is something in setup to turn the brakes on? I don't think so, but...

Just to be sure. You do have the brake controller installed? When you press the + and - on the brake controller, does it show the gain on the console?

On my 2013, that fuse is so your charging system can charge any battery(s) on a trailer you might be towing.

Is your 'gain' set properly?
