New Member Help

Hey Folks. I apologize to drop in with a favor as my first post, but I want to introduce myself and ask for help navigating where to go on here. There is a TON of good information, but obviously we want to take what we need and leave the rest.

This is my first forum I have ever been on, but I felt it was much needed after my recent purchase. I want to make sure I am staying on top of things and protecting my new baby!

I recently bought a 2013 6.7 king ranch F-350 and I fell instantly in love. It had 75k miles on it when I bought it and was in great condition inside and out. I have never owned a diesel truck before so I will need all the help I can get trying to get used to the routine preventative maintenance and care so I can get the use out of it that the Ford enthusiast rave about in this newer motor. I guess my question/as for help is -

1) What section of the forum is the best place for the general routine maintenance suggestions (the stuff that owners have communicated that may not be in the owners manual) - both mechanical and the actual cosmetic parts.
2) Any newbie advice as a 6.7 owner? I'm approaching 80k miles - any suggestions on interval maintenance?
3) Does anyone know an honest and reputable deisel mechanic in Jacksonville Florida?
4) I have put about 4k miles on it since Ive owned it and no issues - do you recommend I have someone give it a thorough lookover when I take it in for maintenance? IT says it needs a fuel filter already and an oil change, so I thought paying an extra labor hour or two might not hurt.

I am not happy with the truck dealer I bought it from and will not contact them again, so any info you have is much apprecaited.

Welcome to FTE !
Just look around at the different topics in the 6.7 section and learn to use the search tool.
Also the coffee table book in the tech section is a must read.
Pay attention to the fuel quality you buy. Check the water trap occasionally.
Don't put DEF in your fuel tank. That's a big No No !!
Just do the maintenance required by the owners manual and you will be fine.
Remember most people come here to complain. The rest of us have had good luck with our trucks.
You will get plenty of suggestions on use and maintenance from others.
Good luck NTO 35 !

Welcome NTO35

You need to read the Diesel Supplement. If it didn't come with the truck you can download it from here - Welcome to Ford Owner | Official Ford Owner Site you'll need to register.

Use only MOTORCRAFT oil, air & fuel filters. I have a '13 also and have only a few minor problems with exhaust sensors.

Enjoy the truck.

Welcome to the club, pal. Good luck with your new to you Ford. My truck is my first diesel.

Good read for you here.

If the idiot lights are saying you need a fuel filter and an oil change, get 'er done.

Sounds like you need to find a shop that you can trust. Sorry about your problem with that dealer...that sucks. If it was me, I would have taken the truck to a shop first before buying and have them check it out but too late for that.

I would say it probably would be good to get the truck in somewhere and have it gone over...and get the fuel filters (there are 2; one on frame in the black pump housing and one under the hood) and oil changed at least.

When the truck goes into a regen, keep driving if you're close to your destination until she goes off. It will display "cleaning exhaust filter" or something like that quick and once. I would recommend getting an digital display like the Banks iDash because you can monitor when the truck is regening, amongst others as well.

When the fuel needle gets close to the red empty line, you have about 3 to 4 gallons left...or at least my 16 does.

Good luck bro.

Whenever fueling or adding DEF, leave the cell phone in the console.......I.E. No distractions.
When fueling, do NOT just grab the green handle.....grab the DIESEL handle.....I.E. if the handle isn't slimy....look again and make damn sure you push the "DIESEL" button on the pump!!
As stated previously, read the coffee table thread on the 6.7 engine, there is a lot there!!!
