Fuel Filter
@ what milage are you guy's changing your fuel filter?? A few of my buddies that are long time diesel owners say they change them around every 20,000 miles even though the owners manual states every 15,000 miles.
Make sure you drain your horizontal fuel filter (you have two fuel filters) once a month like it says in the book. Look at the fuel that comes out of the trap and see if it looks clear. If it has dirt particles or water, make sure to change filters more often.
Do a search on this forum on fuel filters for suggestions on draining the horizontal and changing filters.
Good stuff here.
The fuel filter shoud be changed every 15,000 miles (there are 2 of them). Change on or before 15,000 miles so Ford doesn't blame you (even though they have issues with the motor).
The info above from everyone is right on.... don't try to save a few bucks, only to cost you more down the road. The difference between 15,000 and 20,000 is not that big of deal. You should have known what you were buying into when you bought a diesel. This isn't your "old gasser" engine any more.
Good luck,
Others have mentioned the manuafcture that makes them for Ford, others have gone to International truck dealer.
I would assume if they are the same (except for packaging) it would not void the warrenty if push comes to shove??
Hope the search helps unless someone knows the names and locations or web sites to check.
Good luck,
