I ordered a new 17 Super duty this week and am going to be deleting all of the usual components that we know about. I currently have 3 6.4s that are DPF/EGR delete. I haven't owned a 6.7 so I'm looking for feed back. We do NOT have emission tests here in MI. I use my truck all day, driving around the city, I tow 10-16k often with my truck, I tow my 32ft camper and will be upgrading to a 5th wheel in 1-2 years. So I want what is best for the truck, not real interested at all in performance. I want to keep this new SD for 20 years! Im going to just block off plate the EGR so in case there is a warranty issue I can quickly get it back to stock.
Have you deleted your new super duty?
Have you noticed any gains/mpg/HP?
What is the BEST tuner available?
I really can't stomach keeping any of those items on my truck for even 1,000 miles. I hope theres guys that feel the same way as I do. I plan to have it removed the day I bring it home......
From what i can tell its still early in the game for deleting the 17's. There are a few companies but im waiting on all the other guinea pigs to get done. Second once deleted there is no "going back to stock" from what i read. Ford will always be able to know. If you delete it with out putting some miles on it any design flaws that may exist are going to be on your dime. I want to delete mine too but im going to put many hard miles on it first to make sure there are no defects. JMO
It seems that there isn't as much reason to delete the 2017. Mine only regenerates every 500 miles or so, makes no smell (nice for garage starts), and will go well over 5000 miles on a tank of DEF. There is also PLENTY of power stock.
My truck burns around 33 gallons of fuel in 500 miles without regenerating, so the extra 0.5 gallons or so used for the regen is only a 1.5% hit. That's a small price to pay for a clean burning, legal truck. I can see cleaner, longer lasting oil as a delete benefit, but that's not worth it to me.
Only if the system needed a costly repair out of warranty would I'd consider deleting.
Search for users UGA33 or KubotaOrange76. These guys may have done these types of mods on these trucks or may have some additional knowledge or input.
Deleting isn't absolutely necessary but in the long run probably is better for the health of the engine and you will likely see some improvement in overall fuel economy and power.
Ford 20 year life I'd leave it alone. It doesn't share anything with the 6.4 in design and hasn't shown to have issues like the international designs had. IMO doing the delete is putting your neck out based on old issues. I haven't seen an emissions system engine failure yet where someone said "if I had only done the delete..."
Also, inspection or not, it's still against federal law to remove those systems and if you think they'll get less strict...
I wasn't saying anything bad about deleting Kabota.
Just that for me, it wasn't worth the warranty implications to delete. 440hp and 925 ft lbs is more than enough power for what I need and the few extra mpg I would gain just don't justify the cost of the delete work/parts or the repairs without any warranty. For that, I was just stating my opinion.
Deleting aside, i dont think this truck was built to last 20 years lol. Probably wouldnt be very cost effective to keep the truck for that long. I dont want this thing after 7 years haha, ill let some other person take on all the issues that im sure will come with time.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. I would choose to delete simply for the betterment of the engine. The cost has nothing to do with it, the cost of the engine in 5 years if the emissions junk is left on could be 8xs the cost of what a correct delete option would cost up front. I do think its wise to put some miles on it first in case I have some factory issues, plus I imaging Ford could tell with the technology they have. I really am hoping I can have some conversations with my service manager in the event I delete and I have a issue that I know is not delete related if he will work with me. I buy these trucks for work and long term. I just sold my 7.3 that was 17 years old. 20 years may be a stretch but I'm a minimum 12 years plus on a truck that I order for 65K exactly how I like it. My entire focus behind the delete is just motor safety and longevity. The emissions junk is TERRIBLE for them...... IMO. Again thanks a lot guys, I've always read these forums but never joined. Oh and I believe FORD can build products that can last long after 20 years!!
Nothing wrong with deleting just make sure there are no issues first. im thinking 50k miles on mine. I know a guy who deleted his 2011 and at 13k the turbo bearings went out and he had to cut a check to get it replaced.

Are there studies/evidence that back this up? Not discounting your input. This is my first diesel, so just generally curious more than anything.
The three main things that are redirecting me from deleting are: extended warranty, yearly smog/ emissions check including visual inspection of emissions equip and the dealer said they and other local dealers won't take deleted trucks on trade. I realize you can put the equipment back on, but I'm probably just going to avoid the headache
