Personally , I have received Nothing but Excellent service from the Ford dealership where i purchased my 99 PSD truck from. They are a very small town type of business and really help folks out when they are in Need. Of course , my truck has only been back once for a warranty repair at 71k to repair a leaky water pump. All in All , my service and support couldn't have been any Better. And, if i had the need i would buy an 04 PSD with an 04 diesel in a newyork minute . I'm just not in the market for a new truck. thanks for listening , s.kuteman
dman01, i have a question for ya, ive seen some of your recent posts in different threads and all you have to say is something negative about ford and how great you think your dodge is, if thats the case..then why are you here on a Ford site?
I only use the Ford dealer when I am in a bind. I am not completely satisfied with their work either, and the owner is the biggest crook around these parts...
Why would I need to go to the dealer?? My truck came with a 24000 mile/ 2 year warrenty in 1972. But from the horror stories I have heard here, I would go to them as only a last resort. But then again, there are few things I can't do on my own to my truck, or my moms explorer for that matter.
I hate to say it, but my local Ford dealer is staffed by morons and managed by idiots
Lucky thing for me, the Mercury dealer down the road is the exact opposite - competant, professional and prices are competitive with the aftermarket parts jobbers.

Something that a lot of people dont believe or want to believe is that the dealer doesnt always charge more for parts or labor. Ford dropped the prices on a lot of common parts to compete with the aftermarket and, in my opinion, genuine Ford parts are usually better than aftermarket ones.
Labor isnt always more at a dealer either. Yes the shop rate might be higher but if a trained technician can do the job faster and not throw as many parts at it trying to fix it, it might work out cheaper.
Yes I'm biased because I work at a dealer
I have been well satisfied with my local dealer. I've bought 3 trucks from the same saleman, so that may stand for something. I just received an invite to drive the '04s and partake of free BBQ
I do most of the work myself now, but when i needed dealer repairs, i had to go 35 miles to another dealer that i did not buy the truck from to get service. This dealer took care of me. Now the other dealership is under new hands now, so far i give them a . You are going to have good ones and bad ones, the leadership at the dealer will make or brake the place.
Hey Guys!
I think many compaints are legit! There are always pro/cons about DS and independent repair shops. Many of us have not walked in those shoes, but one question I have to ask... Why is ther such a large turn-around rate for mechanics and salespeople? There seems to be a "turnaround" about every six months. Are the manufactures requesting that these people be let go, or are these people under trained, goof-oofs, lazy, I forgot to go to work today!
Our flate rates here are $78.00 an hour!
Costs for having something analysed, is between $79.00 and $329.00!
Repairs out of warranty are a minimum of $500.00!
Cost of having MANY GREAT FRIENDS here at FTE! "PRICELESS"!!
I'll leave my rig by the side of the road and let the state have it, before I ever step into a dealership shop!
Nobody is going to Tahiti on my dime! HEE HEE!
Talk with you guys later....
...Nope, I tend to stay away from "Stealers"...The last time I went about 10 years ago I paid way to much for a behind-seat storage box and was treated like crap in the process...
...Basically the same way I feel about Harley dealers too...
I go independant everytime

Also, the local dealer seems top have some seriously clueless personnel (like one guy quoting me $200 for an alignment on my F-350).
I took my F150 to the dealer for a front wheel alignment because it was the only place in town that could get me in before the weekend. They quoted me $49.95 which I thought was reasonable, but a couple hours later they called and said it needed new cam shims and the total bill was $150.00. I don't know if I got hosed or not, but what can you do. I can't do it myself. Basically I try to steer clear of the Dealership if possible.
