Ordered this part number 3C3Z-6608-B to replace a broken front cover. The spot where the metal tube goes in on the upper passenger side broke last week while I was working on it.
Anyway, I took the front cover off last week and noticed when pulling the gasket off for the front cover there were two little rubber plugs in the block that the gasket was stuck to. I circled the areas in red on the new gasket below:
What are these things? Do they need to be replaced or should I just leave them alone? When removing the old gasket, they got pulled out quite a bit and part of the old gasket stuck to them.
Also, does anyone have shop manual info for replacing this part? Just curious if there are any special things I need to do. I saw DTR's video on installing, so I've gotten good info from that already.
Those black plugs are the ends of what I call "the $7k gasket"!! That's the bed plate seal. You are supposed to cut the sealant before pulling the front cover gasket off. Hopefully it's ok tho.
Typing this from a freakin hospital bed!!! Getting old is starting to suk!!!
