i have a 78 f100 costom with a 300 i6 1bbl carb. it starts good then when i drive it i will have a loss of power apon acceleration and a bog at mid throttle. i have a vac. gauge and ive adjusted it. it idles smooth at 400 rpms and the engine is in great condition just dont know why it has the bog at mid throttle. anyone have a suggestion?
Fuel delivery and vacuum. MAke sure you have adequate fuel pressure, and look for vacuum leaks. Is your vac advance on the distributor working as it should?

I think 400 RPM idle is low for the I6...could cause premature berrin wear/failure. Can you get it up to ~ 550 -600 RPM at idle with no problem? Presupposin' you have a stick and not an auto trans.
Agree on checking for vacuum leaks and checking your vacuum advance can. The carb's base is solid with the rest of the carb and intake, yes?
vac. advance is working. fuel pump is working ok. probley need a new one. no vac. leaks and intake is good. its an automatic too. i idle it low because thats what it originally did. when i bought it it was idling at around 1200 and never ran right. it always bogged down though.

Choke set up properly, with the wire to the choke-spring heater connected?
