F-750 for Towing

F-750 for Towing
I was wondering if a FORD 750 can be used for towing. I know that the top speed of these trucks is only about 70-75 MPH (optimal running condition?). but if it is just the cab and chassis, weight would be reduced dramatically. Also, can the gears be changed to allow for the top speed to be bumped up a bit, let's say 10 MPH?
Thanks in advance

A f750 could be used for towing..depending upon the year..are we talking a new one with abs, electronic shift, collision avoidance systems
https://www.topspeed.com/trucks/truc...-ar168050.html
A new one is governed at the speed but its entirely possible to exceed that if you want to pimp the computer (which by the way would also be used against you in a accident)... new ones go 90.. at least thats estimated in reviews
90 would get you arrested for reckless.. impoundment...and thousands in legal fees
and you want to go...85 ???? in a medium duty
we need to talk.....
but sure.. it COULD be done but on an over the road truck why?... that speed is into the unsafe zone for the characteristics of the truck (generally)...puts you outside the parameters of Ford. In the outback of Australia ...ok...
Sure.. there are plenty of trucks that CAN go 85... but should the operator be going that speed...no... the ten miles an hour you speak of is huge when safety comes into play.. and towing??? what trailer do you want behind you at 85?... your fifth wheel?
Just because we can does not mean we should
Here in California the commercial ticket alone would cost as much as the truck... and the cite on your insurance would double it..
Now... if you're wanting to build a Bonneville truck...
Lets talk again
Here wet your whistle
what could go wrong?

The ability to go 85mph as a burst maneuver is laudible to get along with- and in and out of- traffic. But, any "flow of traffic" that expects a large truck to go over 70mph sustained has its head where the sun don't shine.
71mph red-lines my 7.8 Brazilian diesel (F-800). 60mph engages the governor in my '63 F-850 (which is in no small part why that truck still has service life).
