Vacuum Pump QuestionVacuum Pum

I need more vacuum for the power brakes on my '53 F100. I purchased a vacuum pump for a F350 6.0L. I only get 13" of vacuum from this unit. I need > 15" vacuum for the brakes.

My question is: What is this pump used for on an F350? Is it used for brakes?

ESOF hubs and climate control. Brakes are a hydroboost unit tied in with powersteering.

Look at the Summit catalog. I had to get one years ago and I think I found it there. You can also get an electric booster.

I ordered a GM vacuum pump from Amazon. It's a Chinese copy of a Hella UP28. I also had to buy a Variable Vacuum Switch to control the pump. That part is normally used with a GM transmission. I guess it controls the clutch for lockup.
