Having trouble finding a replacement taillight plug
My brake light (4 post) plug has lost continuity inside the molded rubber.
The plug has u-59882 molded on the side of it. I am having trouble locating a replacement. Please help with at vender that supplies this plug or a recommend a alternative.
This item connects to the rear brake harness near the rear bumper of my 1977 F-150 2wd single cab automatic truck. All help is greatly appreciated.
CelticOne, that is a nice website, I haven't seen that one before. thanks.
However, the connection actually is bad on the body harness side, not the rear brake light side of the connection. I'm hoping to find a replacement off a 70'ish passenger car, but I don't know what cars, if any, will have that plug.
I know of three bump side trucks in the local u-pull, however no dent sides.
Thanks again for the website info.
I've used the Deutsch on several applications and they are fairly easy to use and are used by major boat manufacturers, both fresh and salt water. That speaks volumes for me. Best of luck and hope you find what you need.
corvair62, wirecare.com seems like a good answer for this and a couple of other projects. Thank you.
NumberDummy, There are couple of 1978 Broncos in the u-pull near me, I will be making a visit there as soon as the rain clears. Thank you for the cross reference information.
If I can keep the same style of plug I can use my same trailer splice connection.
Thanks guys for the information, I'll post how it turns out. God Bless!
The Broncos at the u-pull did not work out. One off-road bronco did not have the harness. However, I am attaching two more pictures. I believe that I need both ends of this connection. Thank you for everyone's help.
The NAPA trailer option looks good. Another option is to install a GM "weather tech" 4 pin connector. Available at some NAPA stores, autoelectric stores and I am sure on line.
Cut those out and install weather packs. We have cut-out new nos ones and repalced them for servicibility. Keep the metal lamp housings, all the later ones use plastic which are not as durable.

I do have an assortment of connectors I can send you if you want oem stuff. Some are like the one you show (3x1) and some are 2x2 (m x f). It wouldn't matter as long as youre replacing the pair. The colors may even match if we're lucky. If you decide to go that route, email me your address and I'll send you what I have. ehershkowitz@hotmail.com.
Was anyone able to find a replacement plug? I am looking for the female end.
This NAPA one is similar, but only has 4 wires. The factory ford harness had 6 wires. 1 yellow (left), 1 green (right), 2 brown (taillight), 2 black (reverse).
