I have finaly decided to put a 390 into my 52 F1 and I am wondering if any one has seen or has done this that can help me. I have found a engine swap mounting kit or I have the idea of using 4x4 motor mounts for this aplication and I have every thing else for this prodject. Is thare any curves or hidden flaws with this idea?
There's not any problems that I can think of. My C-6 comes really close to the floor board, but it still fits the way it is. Mine has home made brackets, so I can't tell you if yours will fit the same way.
My only suggestion is to put in really low gears or a good suspension. You don't want to be traveling at 100+mph with the stock I-beam. If you put in a new front suspension it needs to be beefed up a bit more than the usual because of the weight of the 390.
So what year is the 390? What heads and intake are you gonna put on it?
If you've got the mounting kit designed for that particular engine swap, why would you use anything else? You'll have plenty of other hurdles after the install, so why add 4X4 mounts to the list?
Make sense???
Good luck with the swap... and nice engine choice for a great year Effie... I loved the pix of the '48 - '52's from Pigeon Forge!
I have a 390 out of a 72 ford pu but it is redone with a mild cam and large port car heads out of a 64 gal, and for now just to get every thing set up I am gouin to ust the stock intake.
