2011 brake controller
Just added disc brakes on my 42 foot triple axle fifth wheel. There was a steep decline leaving a campground this morning. I wanted to test the new brakes so I squeezed the paddles on the brake controller and the effect on stopping was minimal at best. Concerned, after the hill we got up to 40 miles per hour and I squeezed the paddles and the trailer stopped without locking up at all (controller is set to 7).
Question is is the brake controller dependent on truck speed? Or is mine defective?

I usually set the trailer brake level using the display and steering wheel controls in my 2011 F350 and it works fine. I don't think I've ever used the paddles to set the level. Try that and see if there's any difference

The installer didn't realize that setting was in the 2011s, so it is set to electric. Thank you for the confirmation about the paddles and the truck speed. I will have them stop back in and check everything.
