My Toro trimmer......has a sticker on it, says 32:1, but will barely run on that. I've been feeding it 40:1, and is very hard to start, and seems to load up, smokes a lot, too. Thinking about going 50:1......What's your experience been?
Also curious how much line you put on when you fill your trimmer? The pkg has 100', so I've been trying to pull off about 20 each time....It might hold 30, not sure.
40:1 on my trimmer... Replaced the spark plug and cleaned the air filter. Starts great now, little smoke - not bad.. If I fill the whole cassette with string, it just binds up and does not feed, so I only go 1/2 of the cassette and it works much better. I can make it a year on that.

Lots of trimmers run fine on 50:1, kind of surprising yours specs that much oil. I'd give it a shot, but if it doesn't run well on the factory spec something may be wrong.

How old is your trimmer? Just started acting up this year? Run fine last year but not this year?
If over a year old you can change the in tank filter. Run some k100 fuel treatment in the gas, use mid grade non ethanol fuel
