I changed rotors and pads on the front of my 99 expo. Did not shut off air susp. before jacking the front up. now the front is high and the rear is fully compressed. will not level out. I have tried turning air on and off, cycling the key, nothing. Any suggestions? The compressor is not coming on at all. I checked fuse and it is ok.
same problem here, I hot wired the compressor so I know that works but nothing else happens rear end stuck I do hear the clicking the rear sensors make though maybe the compressor relay thats my last hope and then its to ford it goes.
Try unhooking your battery for 10 - 30 minutes. This will reset all the computer systems in your truck. The ride height variables are hardwired into the computer, so when the system gets power again, it will return to those default ride height settings.
In my case its not the #4 relay I was thinking more the relay that looks like a pager with the cooling fins located on the front inside fender, Ichecked the compressor by disconnecting the plug and puting a jumper wire to the pos. lead and the neg. lead on the plug going to the compressor
I unplugged the battery and let it sit all day. when i reconnected, the compressor came on for about 5 minutes and shut off. the front stayed up high and the rear is still compressed. I tried adjusting the rear sensor by compressing the sensor but nothing happened.
XXl, tried that today cycling and batt disconect still did't help I have heard sometimes the settings have to be reprogramed into the computer by the dealer, looks like that may be the direction I'am heading in , jca at least you got your compressor to kick in
maybe a leak somewhere in the line?
Took into Ford. Compressor and Relay were replaced at $718.00. The problem is solved. I did some research and you can purchase these items online for about $170.00. It looks very easy to replace yourself. Hope this helps.
Jca, Good to hear your back to normal the truck that is.
Bigmatt, Mine is still stuck down in the rear haven't been able to bring it in to ford because its not registered as yet, but the compressor does work, if I short the A & B slots in the relay plug harness side the compressor kicks in but with the relay in nothing happens and no air passes the rear fill solenoids. I am confused on this one, but will keep tying until I send it in.

Ok, so the comp won't come on by itself, but when you jump it, you still don't get any pressure to the rear? It might just be the compressor relay and the rear fill connector (which is located underneath the air filter housing. The connector has been known to crack and let the air out of the rear shocks).
Bigmatt,
checked that one, see the air is getting to the rear fill solenoid but not passed that checked the current going into the solenoid but seems it won't open to let air to the back springs take the line off going into the solenoid and there is air passing thru the line but take off the line coming from the solenoid there's nothing. See I think the system was damaged when the truck was shipped to me it was on a trailer with the *** end ratcheted down for a few days and air suspension was not turned off, but it was standing level when it was taken off but when I started working on it taking the motor out it lowered and never came back up.

Sounds like we have a winner. I'd go ahead and replace the solenoid - whenever the dealer gets their hands on a malfunctioning load-leveling suspension, it seems like they just replace everything and the problem fixes itself - go figure
Try replacing the solenoid and see where that gets you.
