460 engine cross

have a question, my Dad has a '97 f250 w/ the EFI 460/auto which has head gaskets blown. I purchased an EFI 460/auto out of a '96-'97 f350 U-Haul truck. is this engine and it's emissions systems compatible with the F250 we want to install it in? is the cam and engine sensors the same as the 250? what problems could I run into with this engine in this truck? Dad seems to think there is a big difference in the two engines and I don't think there is, any thoughts guys?

There should be no difference as long as they are both non- California trucks. The easy way to tell if they are non-CA, is the intake tubing will have two tubes coming from the air filter cover. CA models have a MAF sensor housing and only one tube off of the air box.

If they are for sure the years that you say they are, then they are exactly the same motor. Keep the pcm in the F-250.

What Cody said - the core engine is the same, plus you can always swap parts from your Dads blown engine to the new engine as needed.
