So is this forum dead? Been watching it and no updates or apparent activity. just moved to Arizona from Oregon and once I get my front end seals replaced, would really love to get out and see the country down here. Any good 4x4 culbs or organizations? Any input would be awesome.
Seems many of these regional subsections on national forums get little to no traffic. I tried to find something somewhat local to Phoenix a few times, but only ever got a bunch of Powerstroke fan boy kids that are just about brorunners and rolling coal every where, lol.
Maybe some FTE flyers posted at some local parts stores, and shops? This could work in lots of places outside Arizona also.
A lot of Ford owners out there who would love to get some tips and advice from more experienced Ford enthusiasts, and a lot of very experienced Ford enthusiasts who would love to just talk trucks. I keep telling my friends and coworkers about FTE, but so far, nobody has told me they joined up. I am pretty sure I can get the new guy at work to join ---- he's a backyard mechanic with a 1995 F-150 in need of some TLC, so I just need to convince him that THIS is the best place to come ask questions. I'm still trying to arrange a few meet-ups because it's always fun to see the back half of some store parking lot fill up with beautiful Fords on a Saturday morning.

I'd be more into it if I didn't feel like a red headed stepchild with leprosy every time I showed up because I didn't have at least an OBS, lol Though I suppose my bricknose IS the red headed stepchild of Ford trucks
Truthfully though, my truck isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The motor popped a year ago, and I doubt I'll be able to get to it anytime soon
Westgate is very close to you, maybe we can arrange to tow it there and back?
And I LOVE the brick nose! The OBS is gorgeous also, but there's just something so nice about the brick nose.
Heh... It's hardly a show truck worth towing, and the front end is all torn down now anyways. Not to mention it's a lot of truck for the typical car hauler trailer.
It was my primary tow rig before the motor let go, and I was working on redoing the interior then, with the planned goal of it pulling double duty as an off road recovery rig. Then life happened....
Life does have a way of interrupting the Ford fun sometimes. Just hang in there. My Bronco is out of state and out of reach right now, and I'm driving something I dare not even mention, but there's a 2004 Expedition in my near future so all is not lost. And if you ever give up on a "project" there's always some Ford lover out there who will be happy to buy it and finish it. Some of my best deals have been "half finished" projects I bought when the owner got interested in something else ---- worked out great, my cash helped them get a head-start on their "new" project, and their "old" project fit nicely in my driveway. :-)
Oh no...as much as I don't want to be that "I'm gonna get to it...someday!" guy that ultimately lets it rust back to nothing, it took a LONG time to find a crew cab 4x4 diesel 5 speed here that wasn't a complete pile of beat schmit, or bro'ed out by some dipschmit teenager. Despite a poor spray bomb paint job, the body is free of rust or damage. Rust obviously isn't much of an issue here, but the teenager in the desert with a case of beer effect most certainly is, lol.
Not to mention, my only other vehicle with a hitch on it is the Suzuki XL-7 wagon daily driver. Makes a fine DD, tow rig...not so much. Ultimately, the '59 International is slated to be the primary tow rig, but that's a LONG term project on the very back burner, lol.
Most of my towing needs are under 6,000, so Bronco/Expedition should be able to get me by just fine. . . . but there's that nagging voice in the back of my mind that tells me I don't have enough Fords . . . . seems like I might end up needing a F350 or F450 at some point . . . . but that brings a bunch of decisions I'll have to make ..... what year? I am very partial to the brick nose, I wonder if one would look nice with one of those fancy new 7.3 Godzilla gassers in it? SRW or DRW ? I've always leaned more towards SRW for most things, but if this will be my "heavy hauler" then it might make more sense to just go ahead and embrace the DRW. For a guy who's "Dream Car" list is just a few Broncos and Expeditions, and a work truck, there sure is still a lot of things to decide about.
I looked at those 1959 Internationals you said you're going to use for towing .... those are actually pretty darn good looking! ---- if I am looking at the right model? I am not too up on my I-H models, is this the right one?
