In the greater scheme of things, this is pretty minor, but is there any way to remove those stupid rubber thingies in the console cup holders? I hate these things as they are too tight, and certainly don't work with a koozie on the can.
My 2012 F-150 FX4 had removable inserts and the can just sat freely, easy to remove and replace. I think you could roll this '17 SD and the cans would never fall out of the cup holder.
It appears the soft rubber nubbers could be removed, but thought I'd ask before wreckin' something.
Maybe you can swap out the inserts for the job #2 spring inserts. They work great.
Just to let you know they aren't springs those tabs are held with a rubber band type thing.
I took apart my friends job 2 to get part numbers but they are on back order till 5/20.

Can you list the part numbers? I have a job1 and I was wanting to put the job2 front cupholder retention clips in my job1. Is this possible to do? Is that what you are doing with your friends?
Part number still goes to the old cup holders that are on the job 1 trucks job 2 trucks are just as cheaply built one of my friends already busted that band.
Why do they always try and over engineer these items? In our 2011-2016 SD's the cup holders with the inserts were removable and worked great. Now we try and get fancy and just end up building crap till Job 3 or 4 when all the feedback is received. SMH. Not rocket science fellows.
Good luck, Ford has been getting feedback since the introduction of 2015 F-150's, and it hasn't helped! I'm holding out hope that one day Ford designers will get back to what works great, what's comfortable and so forth. Until then it's cost cutting.

There wasn't many things I disliked about my 2012, but those removable cup holder inserts were definitely one! . . . Remove the insert to fit a larger beverage bottle and I found myself driving with one hand on the bottle to keep it from shaking. And if your cup/bottle fit snug in the insert, that meant the insert would be stuck to it when you took a drink, then you either had to drive with your knee, pull the insert off and re-install it, or you had to carefully rotate your bottle each time you put it back so the insert would seat properly. If it wasn't one of those, it was me frantically looking for the lost insert I removed and carefully stashed somewhere so that I wouldn't need to go "test drive" a new truck to get a replacement!
