On ladder bars, or traction bars whatever, which mount is best for the axle side of it? A solid one with u-bolts around the axle, or one with bushings on a mount on the axle? A or B? thnaks
I think that this is one time that I would have to disagree with DC I would got with A. They just look more impressive is all.
Ya have to remember that most of the time I really do agree with DC on most of this stuff.
The thing I don't like about the L&L is that it is a fixed mount using u-bolts to hold it to the axle tube. If they move they could start to wear through the axle tube. Of Course they could be welded. But, I'd think if the rear mount was fixed like that then the upper mount would have to be a shackle to help prevent it from binding up the rear suspension.
Those Fabritech bars look to use a plate underneath the spring pack similar to Pro Comp's. Which then either your bars would have to have a slight bend in them to get them back under the frame rail or your upper mount would have to be to the side of the frame rail.
If the mount is to the welded to the axle tube in line with the frame then you could use a straight bar with a front hanger that bolts or is welded underneath the frame.
If we're talking about looks I still like B better than A, but I like a simple single tube better than both.
I don't like A because it looks like those clamps won't be able to hold the twisting tendancy of the axle.. I used a set once which bolted to the spring ubolts some how and went forward to the front spring mount...either way I would weld to the axle. A looks better.IMO
